What is Refinishing?

The process involves the spraying of an aliphatic acrylic urethane polymer that will restore your surface to its beautiful and easy-to-clean finish. This polymer coating dries to a hard finish to maximize its durability.

How is refinishing more affordable than replacement?

The costs of installing a new bathtub, counter top, tile wall, cabinet, etc. - which involves installation, labor, plumbing needs, and disposal costs - far exceed the price it takes for one of our professionals to refinish your kitchen or bathtub.

Why do different companies charge different prices?

Cheaper prices mean less experienced technicians, that shortcuts are being taken, and/or cheaper materials are being used.

Is all refinishing the same?  

​

Absolutely not! Different refinishers use different products and procedures of various qualities and efficacy. There is a wide range of quality within the refinishing industry, with many companies using improper materials (i.e. using acrylic, marine, or other industrial coatings that are not engineered specifically for the surface being refinished) and equipment.

What is the professional painting process?​​

​

​

1. Remove Doors & Hardware

​

Remove all doors and bring them back to our cabinet shop to clean, sand, prime and paint.

 

2. Clean/ Sand the Cabinets

 

Cabinets retain dirt and grease so they must be thoroughly cleaned and sanded to insure a good “ no peal” bond.

                                   

3. Repair Imperfections

​

Fill:

• Old hardware holes

• Dents

• Chips

 

Caulk small seams where needed.

 

4. Prime

 

Use a high-adhesion bonding primer.

This is critical for:

• Laminate

• Thermofoil

• Previously painted cabinets

• Factory finishes

 

5. Paint / Topcoat

 

After primer drys we apply 2 coats of either Gallery or Renner 2k topcoat.

6. Install Doors

​

After all the doors have had at least 72 hours of dry time on our drying racks they are ready to install in your home. After door installation we can reinstall the old hardware or install any brand new hardware you request.

 

How long will painted cabinets last?

With proper care, professionally painted cabinets can last for many years, as they dry to a furniture-grade finish.

How do I care for my painted cabinets?
 

Clean them with mild soap and water, avoid harsh abrasive cleaners, and immediately wipe up grease or food spills.

 

 

Can any cabinets be painted?

Most wood or laminate cabinets can be painted, but cabinets with severe damage, peeling veneer, or low-quality materials might not be good candidates.

How long does a usual kitchen project take?

From start to finish it takes about 10 days time, most of the time is spent at our shop. We will only be in your home an average of three days total for about six hours a day. We usually arrive around 9:00 am and leave around 3:30 pm in occupied homes.

Should I replace my cabinet pulls?

Yes, updating handles is an inexpensive way to enhance the newly painted kitchen. We offer a variety of handles to choose from or you can order directly from amazon and we will install them.
